200th Birthday Celebration - A Success!

Well, we thought our Festival Event and the Theatre production was a great success; the sun shone as well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves! Pity about the mud, but it wouldn't be a Festival without some!

More importantly, what did you think? Click below to post your comment now!

The Society gratefully acknowledges funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund which enabled the commissioning of the Oldham Theatre Workshop's production premiered at the event. There was no doubt the theatre performances made a major contribution to the Festival's success and clearly were enjoyed by everyone.

  1. It was good to see the canal at Diggle alive with all the colourful boats!

It was joy to able to moor up NB “Invicta” at Diggle after passing so many times without stopping due to thee BW tunnel working methods of the past. Let’s hope that we are able to enjoy the tranquil scenery at leisure again on our next trip.

Thanks to Keith for an entertaining quiz on Saturday night.

    When’s the next rally?

It was a fun event. The theatre workshop was a great success and there was a very good atmosphere despite the mud. Let's have more of them.

My family ran a craft stall in the large craft tent to raise funds for the Guide Dogs for the Blind. Thank you to everyone for helping us to raise money to support a young golden retriever called Snowy. We had a great day and managed to watch the theatre group and listen to the brass band. Thanks again see you next year.
